Events and Opportunities
Every Excelsior youth and family has a different story, but they have one thing in common – trauma. Excelsior empowers families to rebuild their lives by addressing behavioral, mental and social challenges.
Behavioral health has been identified as one of the top three health issues facing the Denver region; lack of access to care is a driving force behind this. Excelsior increases accessibility of these services by providing them in-home and in the community where challenges naturally arise.
Along with individual, family and group therapy, Excelsior offers a wide range of specialized programs:
• Animal-Assisted Therapy (Canine, Equine)
• Experiential Therapy (e.g. Adventure, Expressive Arts)
• After School Program
• PEAK Project (Preventing Exploitation through Awareness & Knowledge)
• GOALS Program (Guys/Gals Overcoming Addiction for Lifelong Success)
• Early Childhood & Parenting Support Program
• High Fidelity Wraparound
• Behavior Coaching
Excelsior relies on compassionate, committed volunteers to further programs, expand community outreach and impact, and raise critical funds to fulfill its mission.
• Mission Ambassadors
• Special Events
• Administrative Support
• Program Volunteers
When you donate to Excelsior, you are elevating Colorado communities one family at a time. Excelsior depends on your contributions to make a positive and lasting impact in the lives of hundreds of vulnerable youth and families in Colorado.
How you can help:
Program Expansion – Excelsior is expanding its programs with the goal of assisting every youth and family that needs services. However, program costs limit capacity. For example, ten weeks of Canine Therapy (one of our most beneficial trauma-focused groups) costs $1000 per child, an expense that depends entirely on private support.
Youth and Family Support – Excelsior’s wraparound care approach addresses mental and behavioral health needs as well as practical needs that arise. For instance, Excelsior assists families at risk of eviction, helps pay utility bills, and assists with other practical needs when resources fall short. Excelsior’s Family Support Fund depends entirely on private donations to cover these emergency needs.
Transportation – Research demonstrates that in-home services lead to the most lasting success for at-risk youth and families which requires Excelsior’s therapists to travel to clients’ homes as well as transport youth to various groups and activities. On average, this costs Excelsior $92/week per therapist, an expense for which Excelsior receives no funding.
Ways to Give:
Recurring Gifts – Monthly donations are an easy and effective way to make a lasting impact in the lives of Excelsior youth and families.
Planned Giving – The Julie & Dick Jones Legacy Circle recognizes the extraordinary commitment of donors who include Excelsior in their estate plans, while honoring the compassion and sacrifice of Excelsior’s founders.
Corporate Sponsorships – Excelsior crafts custom partnerships with corporations that benefit the company while also supporting Excelsior programs and services.
Workplace Giving – If your workplace participates in a giving campaign, please consider designating payroll deductions to Excelsior using the following campaign numbers:
• Caring Connection: 1826
• Colorado Combined Campaign: 1826
